Jakarta Covid-19 Update; 2,981 New Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta’s number of Covid-19 cases continues to increase. Today, August 4, the city's Health Agency detected 2,981 new confirmed cases.

The agency's Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division, Dwi Oktavia, said the figure was obtained from the results of PCR tests on 21,437 people.

The number of active cases in the capital today also increased by 477. “So the total number of active cases to date is 14,451. They are undergoing treatment or isolation,” said Dwi in a written statement, Wednesday.

During the past week, the Health Agency said the positivity rate reached 13.7 percent, while the total rate stood at 15.2 percent. The figure was still higher than the WHO standard of below five percent.

Jakarta has now had 823,346 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began in March last year. Of the figure, 796,381 patients have been declared recovered, bringing the recovery rate to 96.7 percent. The death toll, meanwhile, amounted to 12,514, or the mortality rate at 1.5 percent.
