TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan on Thursday urged regional administrations to accelerate the government social assistance (bansos) distribution, especially in agglomeration areas which he views has the most number of people affected by the public activity restriction (PPKM).
“People will be more willing to stay home the faster we distribute the social assistance,” said Luhut on July 22.
He insisted that the effectiveness of the PPKM, which has been extended for just five days until July 25, highly depends on the distribution of assistance and supplying people under quarantine.
State postal service Pos Indonesia and the state-owned banks association (Himbara), that were tasked for the distribution of the cash and staple food assistance, said the distribution process had been started.
However, they asserted that the social assistance distribution for recipients in a number of regions will need more time as they would need the help of regional governments to distribute the bansos and for the verification process.
“Social Agency and regional governments should use this opportunity to prevent data manipulation of bansos recipients,” said Luhut Pandjaitan, who also acts as the Java-Bali PPKM coordinator.
