TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan in a press conference on Wednesday reminded people that everyone is in a perpetual fight against Covid-19 and and its latest Delta variant.
He urged for solidarity to overcome the humanitarian crisis and support the government’s handling of the pandemic.
“Our restlessness to engage in politics can cost people their lives,” said Pandjaitan who also coordinates the emergency PPKM Covid-19 restriction on July 21.
He assures that the government always keeps tabs with the latest data and considers the viewpoint of many experts in the field of epidemiology that come from universities such as University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada, and Airlangga.
“So believe me that we are doing our best but this delta variant is a difficult situation, and that is the reality of it, no country in the world can claim they have overcome it,” said Luhut Pandjaitan.
During the press conference, the minister said the government will soon increase its capabilities to trace, test, and provide more isolation centers, especially in densely populated neighborhoods. These Covid-19 quarantine centers will be equipped with doctors and provide patients with necessary medicines such as the already established Wisma Atlet emergency hospital.
