Electricity Discount for PLN Customers Extended to December 2021

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State-Owned Electricity Company (PLN) will be extending the electricity rate discount for customers until December 2021 following the determination of the Social Activity Restriction Enforcement (PPKM Darurat) policy. The leniency applies to households, industries, businesses, and social customers category.
"We always support by conducting the government's decision to provide stimulus for underprivileged people and businesses affected by COvid-19," said PLN's Director of Commercial and Customer Management Bob Saril in his statement on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
Bob explained that the stimulus distribution method will not differ from the previous period. In reference to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources letter, the stimulus, which will be available until December 2021 will be provided directly to the customer. For post-paid customers, the discount will be provided by directly reducing the customer's electricity bill.
As for pre-paid customers, the electricity discount will be provided during the purchase of electricity tokens. Meanwhile, 450 VA category pre-paid customers no longer need to process the discount through a website, or WhatsApp services. The discount will be provided directly during the purchase.
For business, industrial, and social customers, exemption from electricity load fees, abonnement, and exemption from minimum usage account will be provided automatically by reducing customer's electricity bill. Discount will be provided only for electricity load fees, or abonnement and minimum usage account.
Below is the detail concerning customers that will receive discounts from PLN.
- Household customers with 450 VA power, small businesses with 450 VA power, and small industries with 450 VA power. This category will be provided with 50 percent electricity tariff discount with maximal use of 720 power-on hours.
- Subsidized household customers with 900 VA power will be provided with 25 percent electricity tariff discount with maximal use of 720 power-on hours.
- Exemption of electricity load fees or abonnement, and exemption from minimum usage account with a rate of 50 percent for industrial, business, and social category customers.
