Indonesia Logs 34,257 New COVID-19 Cases, 1,338 Deaths Today

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia continued to record high numbers of daily COVID-19 cases. As of today, July 19, the National COVID-19 Handling Task Force reported 34,257 new confirmed cases over the last 24 hours.

Based on the Health Ministry’s data, the daily number of cases was obtained from the results of examinations on 160,686 specimens. Thus, the total caseload reached 2,911,733 people.

Six provinces reported additional positive cases of more than 1,000. West Java contributed the highest number of new infections with 7,287 cases, followed by Jakarta with 5,000 cases, East Java with 4,423 cases, Central Java with 4,042 cases, Banten with 2,166 cases, and Yogyakarta with 1,992 cases.

The number of recovered patients also increased by 32,217 today, bringing the total to 2,293,875. Meanwhile, the number of people who succumbed to COVID-19 was 1,338, bringing the country’s death toll to 74,920.
