TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian health ministry has started the injection of vaccine booster or the third inoculation for health workers by using Moderna vaccine. Fifty professors from the Medical Faculty of University of Indonesia (FKUI) and a number of doctors at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) got the shots on Friday, July 16.
“I hope all of medical workers will get the vaccine booster soon to protect them," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin as quoted on the health ministry site.
About 1.5 million health workers will get the shot within 7-8 weeks. An FKUI professor Aman Pulungan who also got the jab said that he did not feel any side effect. He is optimistic that the vaccine booster will increase body immunity.
“I'm pretty sure with Moderna vaccine, [as] the first and second [vaccination] was using Sinovac whose platform was the inactivated virus, this one is Moderna with different platform. I think this is the best,” the doctor said.
Aman calls on all the health workers to get the vaccine booster soon. A strong immunity will be needed for the Delta virus variant, especially when directly treating Covid-19 patients.
