TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia received the 26th batch of Covid-19 vaccines on Friday morning, July 16. This time, the government procured 1,041,400 doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca.
"Today we received the 26th batch of vaccines, which is 1,041,400 doses of Covid-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca. The total vaccine we have received as per this morning is 141,315,880 doses," the Health Ministry's secretary general Oscar Primadi said on Friday, July 16.
The vaccine arrival is part of a deal between AstraZeneca and the Indonesian government for the shipment of 50 million doses of vaccine directly to Indonesia.
The arrival of this batch is expected to accelerate Indonesia's vaccine rollout and expand the scope, so that the target of injecting 2 million vaccines per day in August can be achieved.
The Indonesian government continues to urge the public to get inoculated to achieve herd immunity as soon as possible and curb the pandemic. "Let's hurry up with vaccinations to go faster towards herd immunity," Oscar said.
