Anies Baswedan Monitors Rorotan Covid-19 Public Cemetery

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan monitored the public cemetery or TPU specially set as burial space for Covid-19 victims in Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, July 15. Anies was accompanied by the city’s Park and Forest Agency Head Suzi Marsitawati.
Anies seemed full of sorrow witnessing the land that was highly occupied by rows of graves of coronavirus victims in the capital city. In fact, TPU Rorotan in February 2021 was still an empty vast land surrounded by rice fields.
“Now, as far as the eyes can see, there are only rows of graves,” said Anies during a virtual prayer event held by the Indonesian Muballigh Musyawarah Corps on Thursday.
The former education and culture minister also distributed food to the burial site workers.
Anies Baswedan mentioned that officers buried 306 bodies using Covid-19 protocols last Wednesday, July 14. He said they were not just numbers but a very depressing condition suffered by the city.
