TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo prepared 35 sacrificial cows to be slaughtered for qurban during Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijri on Tuesday next week, July 20. “Each province [will get] one and one for Istiqlal Mosque,” said Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono in Jakarta, Thursday, July 15.
According to Heru, the sacrificial cows from the president vary in weight, from 800 kilograms to one ton. “All have been sterilized by the regional livestock agency,” he added. “The Presidential Secretariat is working closely with the Agriculture Ministry to provide the cows under the control of the local veterinarian.”
The implementation of Eid prayers and the slaughtering of sacrificial animals this year must be carried out under strict health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission. The Religious Affairs Ministry has issued two circulars regarding the implementation of Eid prayers No. 16 of 2021 and Circular No. 17 of 2021.
The circulars stipulated technical instructions for the implementation of Eid al-Adha prayers both in areas enforcing the emergency state of social restriction or Emergency PPKM policy and other areas without the policy.
