South Tangerang Inoculates 1,600 Students

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Tangerang City Administration on Wednesday announced the vaccination of 1,600 students from schools in the Banten Province. 

“Every student will soon be vaccinated. Currently, we have 1,200 doses ready at the SMPN 11 (state junior high),” said South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie on July 14. 

According to the mayor, the local government and the coronavirus task force will conduct Covid-19 vaccinations for students every day at every public and private schools in the province. He noted that it will take time to completely inoculate a total of 52,406 junior highschool students. 

“It will be done when it’s done, it would be good if it is completed within a month for a total of 52,406 public and private SMP students in South Tangerang,” said the Mayor.

The local education and cuylture agency head, Taryono, said the student vaccination program is aim to support the back-to-school program once it is ready to be reintroduced.
