TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Wednesday said that the world is currently battling to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic. She mentioned the requirements needed for a country to escape pandemic-related pressures.
“Those that are able to escape the pandemic are those that are able to formulate steps in the field of healthcare and economic recovery, along with those that are able to maintain the spirit of mutual cooperation in facing this extraordinary situation,” said the Finance Minister in a ceremony of Tax Day commemoration on July 14.
She said tax is a symbol of mutual cooperation since a sate would provide support and protect its citizens as the pandemic continues to cripple society and the business sector.
The Minister asserted that the government will not only provide support for the business sector during the Covid-19 crisis but also after the economy recovers.
“That is the function of tax in a state finance term. As a part of the country’s finances, our task to do allocation, distribution, and stabilization," said Sri Mulyani.
