TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Ministry is starting to set the procedures for the inoculation of the third Covid-19 vaccine, or vaccine booster, for medical workers. The vaccine that will be used is Moderna.

"We'll do it through healthcare facilities in each location [where they work]," said the health ministry spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi, on Saturday, July 10.

Head of mitigation team of Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), Mohammad Adib Khumaidi, said that his side is still waiting for the coordination regarding the mechanism of the vaccination. He would work with the health ministry to ensure that all of health workers who got the second injections, will soon get the third Covid-19 vaccines.

"But I think the procedure and administration will be the same with the previous inoculations. So, we just need to prepare for the implementation," Adib said.

Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said the third shots will only be given to medical workers due to its limited dose. This program will be held starting next week for 1.47 million Indonesian healthcare workers.

"The Moderna vaccines will arrive this week and hopefully we can start [the vaccination] next week," said Health Miniter Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a press conference held virtually on Friday, July 9.
