TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) personnel reportedly flocked the West Jakarta Police borough on Wednesday evening intending to look for members of the police who acted abusively against one of the Paspampres personnel in a brief clash earlier in the day.

The video that went viral on social media shows one Paspampres personnel forcefully escorted to the side of a road after trying to pass an ‘Emergency PPKM’ barrier at the area of Daan Mogot. A number of police members, not wearing their uniform, pinned the Paspampres against a vehicle before the Paspampres member showed his identification.

Responding to the arrival of Presidential Security Detail personnel, the West Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Ady Wibowo said that the group was able to be calmed.

“The problem is already solved, there was indeed a misunderstanding between personnels in the field at the restriction post,” said Ady to Tempo on Thursday, July 8.

In an attempt to overcome the issue, the Police Chief announced he has personally visited the Paspampres headquarters in Jakarta’s Tanah Abang and issued an official apology for the incident.
