TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police (Polri) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Hadi Tjahjanto has issued an instruction for both institutions’ personnel to partner with one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) with the goal of accelerating the nationwide Covid-19 vaccinations

“The partnership is not limited to the central government but is also broadened to every Indonesian region with NU influence. We have ordered our personnel to partner with them,” the National Police Chief wrote in a statement on July 8.

He is optimistic that the partnership with Nahdlatul Ulama branches across Indonesia will help the country reach its goal of one million daily Covid-19 vaccine doses by the end of July.

Meanwhile, PBNU chairperson Said Aqil declared that the organization will support the plan and mobilize its personnel to accelerate the national mass-vaccination program. He insists that it is a form of devotion for the nation and collective responsibility.
