Jakarta Covid-19 Burials Jump by 10-fold: Deputy Governor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that the number of Covid-19 burials have increased by 10 times over since May. He made the statement via an Instagram post showing his visit to the Rorotan Cematary in North Jakarta today, July 6.
In his post, he said that there were 803 people buried under Covid protocols in the past few weeks.
"Data of funerals with the Covid-19 protocol in DKI Jakarta (1 May-3 July 2021) showed that the number have increased tenfold compared to early May 2021," his Instagram post said.
The deputy governor also wrote that when he arrived at Rorotan Cemetery there were seven ambulances lined up after delivering the bodies of Covid-19 patients.
Ahmad Riza Patria reminded Jakarta residents to always follow health protocols strictly. Today, the capital accounted for 9,439 cases of Indonesia's daily 31,189 Covid infections, the highest ever recorded.
