KAI Cancels Long-distance Trips, Offers Full Refund

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway company, Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI, canceled nine long-distance train trips from Pasar Senen and Gambir Stations during the enforcement of emegerncy-state of public activity restriction, or the Emergency PPKM.
Jakarta KAI head of public relations, Eva Chairunisa, said her office offers ticket refund in all online ticket purchase platforms or through a contact center at 121.
"It will be a full refund, 100 percent," she said in a statement on Saturday, July 3, adding that the service would be available until 30 days after the departure schedule (H+30).
She apologized for the inconvenience. "The cancellation was done to fully support the government's Covid-19 mitigation attempt," Eva said.
The emergency Covid-19 curb is imposed from July 3 to 20 across Java-Bali islands.
Today, Gambir Station canceled three roundtrip trains, namely KA Brawijaya to Malang, KA Argo Sindoro to Semarang Tawang, and Argo Cirebon to Cirebon.
From Senen Station, there were six canceled roundtrip trains. Those include KA 282 Matarmaja to Malang, KA 122 Bangunkarta to Jombang, and KA 256 Kertajaya to Surabaya Pasar Turi, KA 128 Gumarang to Surabaya Pasar Turi, KA 102 Singasari to Blitar, and KA 156 Sawunggalih to Kutoarjo.
"As for today, there were only 11 trips departed from Gambir and 11 from Pasar Senen Station. This is aimed to optimize the public activity restriction," said Eva.
Besides the long-distance trips, the Emergency PPKM also forced KAI Jakarta to cancel four local roundtrip trains, namely the KA Walahar Ekspres of Cikarang-Purwakarta, KA Jatiluhur of Cikarang-Cikampek, KA Siliwangi of Sukabumi-Cipatat, and Merak - Rangkasbitung.
