TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government today announced the enforcement of a stricter public mobility restriction touted as the 'emergency PPKM'. It oversees business operations, among many other aspects.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan explained the requirements for bussiness operations during the Covid-19 curb period. This restriction affects businesses in Java and Bali.
“Offices classified under the essential sector can only operate with 50 percent capacity,” he said Thursday, July 1.
Businesses classified as essential are those in the field of finance, capital market, payment systems, information and communication technology, hotels that do not handle Covid-19 quarantines, and the export-oriented industries.
Meanwhile, the critical sector businesses are allowed to operate with 100 percent office capacity under strict health protocols. Those include the sectors of energy, healthcare, security, logistics and transportation, food and beverage, petrochemical, national vital objects, disaster mitigation, national strategic projects, construction, basic utilities, and industries that supply basic needs.
Apart from the mentioned sectors, non-essential businesses are required to impose 100 percent remote working or work from home.
