Jokowi Urges National Police to Improve Knowledge on Technology

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, in celebrating the Indonesian National Police (Polri) 75th anniversary on Thursday, urged the law enforcers to master the needed science and technology (Iptek) and skills to fend off threats against the nation.
“The Polri must not lose with criminal offenders in mastering the Iptek knowledge. Police’s use of its authority must be supported by the latest technology,” the President wrote in a statement on Thursday, July 1.
He called for the Indonesian National Police Chief to showcase assertiveness without discrimination but also present the institution as protector and servant for the public.
In his written statement, Jokowi also called for precision in enacting authority and always referred to the law and uphold public norms.The President mentioned that strong management will also be needed to effectively utilize modern technologies.
