TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial government is preparing 28 new facilities as controlled isolation centers for Covid-19 patients. These additional facilities will be able to accommodate 6,534 patients.
“28 new sites are being prepared, including the Pasar Rumput Rusun (low-cost flat), with a total additional capacity of 6,534 patients,” as quoted from the city’s document received by Tempo on Wednesday, June 30.
The data was presented by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in a meeting on the Emergency PPKM or PPKM Darurat led by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Tuesday, June 29.
The city government also planned to review and prepare Daan Mogot Rusun in West Jakarta and Pulogebang Rusun in East Jakarta. Each of these low-cost apartments has the potential to accommodate 1,500 patients.
The new sites do not include the Nagrak Rusun, Graha Wisata Ragunan, and Graha Wisata TMII. Jakarta has provided 3,073 isolation beds in these three locations. Of the figure, 1,330 beds or 43 percent have been occupied.
“Within one week, the occupancy rate of the controlled isolation centers in the three locations immediately increased to 43 percent,” as noted in the city’s document.
The Jakarta government predicted that there will be 100,000 active Covid-19 cases in the capital between July 8-13, 2021. The dramatic surge possibly happens if the government does not immediately tighten regulations.
