Jakarta's Covid Referral Hospital Almost at Full Capacity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Patients' beds at isolation wards and ICU rooms in Jakarta's Covid-19 referral hospitals are almost at full capacity. The Jakarta Health Office's head of disease prevention and control, Dwi Oktavia, said that of June 23, 90 percent of the beds available are occupied.
Dwi said that there are a total of 9,852 isolation beds in 140 referral hospitals, and 8,874 are in use.
Meanwhile, 1,218 ICU beds are at 86 capacity, occupied by 1,048 patients.
"The Jakarta provincial government will continue to coordinate with the Central Government to prepare controlled self-isolation facilities in a number of locations such as apartments--one of them Rusun Nagrak, and a number of sports arenas," Dwi said in a written statement, June 24 .
On Thursday, the capital city recorded a new high in its Covid-19 daily case count with 7,505 infections in 24 hours.
As of June 24, Jakarta had 40,900 active cases, with patients treated in hospitals or in self-isolations. The capital is also seeing a surge in Covid burials, 150 in June 22 and 180 in June 23.
