TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has officially signed a joint decree (SKB) on implementing guidelines of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE Law), which the police chief promises will be enacted in the field.

The SKB was also signed by Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, Communications and Informatics Minister Johny G. Plate, and Coordinating Politics, law, and security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD in central Jakarta on June 23.

The National Police spokesperson in a statement on Thursday mentioned that the decree was signed to maintain Indonesia’s digital realm that should be kept clean, healthy, ethical, productive, and fair.

He claims that the new guidelines were formulated considering the inputs from State Ministries and institutions “which involved public participation, academics, House legislators, and the press,” said Argo in his statement on June 24.

The spokesperson promised that police personnel will enact the ITE Law guidelines and will be a reference point for law enforcers in the country.
