TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Tugurejo General Hospital in Semarang set up tents to accommodate Covid-19 patients. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said this was due to the soaring number of positive cases. “[We have to] install emergency tents today,” he said in Semarang, Wednesday, June 23.
The emergency tents were located near the emergency unit of the hospital belonging to the provincial government in a bid to quickly treat patients with worse conditions.
According to Ganjar, the conditions at the Tugurejo Hospital reflected the state of virus transmission in Central Java. He thus asked the public to be more disciplined in complying with the health protocols.
“The government will always make efforts to provide facilities,” Ganjar remarked.
Based on the regional data published at https://rstugurejo.jatengprov.go.id, the Tugurejo Hospital has a capacity of 162 beds for patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease, including 26 beds in the intensive care unit or ICU.
Following the spike in positive cases, the Semarang Government limited public activities starting Tuesday, June 22, 2021. “Entertainment venues are temporarily closed,” said the city’s Health Agency Abdul Hakam.
In order to suppress virus transmission, which has started to target the young age group and even children, the Semarang Government established the Covid-19 task force at the lowest administration level. “We reactivate the Kampung Candi Siaga Hebat,” said Hakam.
