Jakarta Allows Non-Residents to Get Covid-19 Vaccines

23 June 2021 16:55 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta has now given access to Covid-19 vaccines for people who do not have the city’s ID Card. People can directly visit the vaccination center or register via the city’s mobile app Jakarta Kini or JAKI.

“[People] can register via the JAKI app, present a statement letter from their neighborhood unit (RT) or office, or just visit the site directly,” said the South Jakarta Acting Mayor Isnawa Adji on Wednesday, June 23.

He said the options aimed at providing ease and accelerate the mass vaccination in the capital city considering that many residents living in Jakarta do not have Jakarta ID Card.

Residents of Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Bodetabek) are also allowed to get the Covid-19 vaccine by visiting the vaccination centers as long as they have available doses.

Meanwhile, residents of non-Jakarta and non-Bodetabek must still present a work statement from their offices that operate in the capital.

Previously, many people complained about the difficulties to get the vaccine as they are obliged to complete various documents, including a domicile statement.

The Health Ministry’s spokesperson for the Covid-19 vaccination, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, explained the domicile statement is needed by the government for accountability purposes in vaccine spendings. Besides, the Covid-19 vaccine distribution is still based on the population number of a province until date.
