TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan barred 12 tourism businesses from operating during the enforcement of the public activity restriction on a micro-scale or known as Micro PPKM from June 22 to July 5, 2021. Other than tourist attractions, movie theaters are also forced to close.
The ban on the operation of tourism businesses is noted in the Decree of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Head No. 419 of 2021 concerning the extension of Micro PPKM in the tourism business sector.
The decree states that 16 types of tourism businesses in the capital are allowed to operate with certain restrictions, while 12 business activities are prohibited, including cinemas.
Other businesses that are barred from operating are salons, golf, meetings or seminars or workshops in hotels and conference halls, and recreational parks such as Ancol and TMII.
The Jakarta Provincial Government also prohibited the opening of museums and galleries, water tourism (sports and water recreation), fitness, billiards and bowling, water parks, swimming areas and swimming pools, as well as children's play parks.
Anies Baswedan decided to tighten regulations on the Micro PPKM for the next 14 days due to the recent explosion in Covid-19 cases which almost caused hospitals across the city to collapse.
