TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Tuesday said that the country’s tourism is not part of a problem but rather a solution to help the country recover from the Covid-19 pandemic that has lasted roughly 1.5 years.
“Tourism is not part of the nation’s problem but a solution to rise and recover. But surely under strict and adaptable health protocols,” said the former Jakarta deputy governor upon introducing the trail and civilization tourism program at Borobudur Temple, Central Java.
He claims that Indonesia’s tourism can shine again even after many predictions stating otherwise due to the limited public mobility and visitations from the pandemic restrictions.
Sandiaga Uno encouraged the tourism industry to continue moving forward and become “agents of change.”
Borobudur is one of the many tourism sites under the government’s prioritized destinations that are prepared for the newly-adapted tourism. The civilization tourism mainly provides tour packages that will take tourists to a site’s past and current culture along with wellness tours and the typical culinary tours.
