Jakarta Reinforces Mobility Restrictions 'Micro PPKM' as Cases Surge

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta city administration has officially announced that it will reinforce its micro-scale community activity restriction (micro PPKM) starting on Tuesday, June 22, after deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria asserted that it will heed to the central government’s orders.

“More or less, we will transform what has been said by Minister Airlangga into a governor’s regulation (pergub),” said the deputy minister late Monday evening.

Previously reported, Minister Airlangga Hartarto - who is also the head committee for the nation’s Covid-19 handling and national economic recovery - announced the central government’s orders to reinforce the micro PPKM social restriction for two weeks (June 22-July 5) after the capital city logged surging coronavirus cases.

This policy effectively restricts office activities located within ‘red zone’ areas to a maximum of 25 percent from its total capacity. Meanwhile outside of these coronavirus red zones, office managements are still allowed 50 percent of its physical office activities.

Restaurants are also strictly only permitted to allow 25 percent of in-dining visitors with operational hours limited to 8pm while religious facilities or houses of worship and public areas within the Covid-19 ‘red zones’ are closed-off entirely.
