TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti estimated that the low-cost apartment or Rusun Nagrak in Cilincing, North Jakarta, can accommodate 1,000 people tested positive for Covid-19. She made the statement in response to the soaring number of cases in the capital.
The low-cost flat is one of three buildings prepared as isolation centers to support the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital in Kemayoran.
“It can be developed to serve 2,500 people later,” said Widyastuti at the City Hall on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
She explained that Rusun Nagrak had never been used as a place of isolation. Two other buildings are also being prepared, namely Wisma Ragunan and Wisma TMII. Previously, both have been designated as isolation centers.
“So we will reactivate them. As for Rusun Nagrak, we are preparing the place,” she added.
Rusun Nagrak, Wisma TMII, and Wisma Ragunan are being prepared as isolation centers following the surge in the number of patients submitted to Wisma Atlet, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
As of Monday, June 14, 5,752 of the total 7,341 isolation beds in the capital city have been occupied. The occupancy rate reached 78 percent within just two weeks as Covid-19 cases skyrocketed.
