TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) on Tuesday has signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly improve Indonesia's cybersecurity capabilities.
The deal will see the two institutions work collectively in developing each of their capacity in cybersecurity, which will ensure Indonesia’s ability to fend off security threats all while accelerating Indonesia’s path towards digitalization.
Kaspersky CEO Eugene Kaspersky on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, said that Indonesia is rapidly developing its digital world and that the Covid-19 pandemic has helped accelerate that development. However, he said, the increased digitization increases the possibility of helping develop more skillful cybercriminals.
In his statement, Kaspersky insisted that defending the cyber realm has become more crucial for the country’s economy and the safety of its population.
The memorandum of understanding between Kaspersky and BSSN will see collaborations that will eventually help progress Indonesia’s cybersecurity awareness.
BSSN Head retired general Hinsa Siburian hopes, among many others, the partnership will enable both parties to commit to building better critical cybersecurity infrastructures and the ability to mitigate and respond to future incidents.
