Indonesian Badminton Players Leave for Tokyo Olympics Next Month

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian badminton athletes participating in Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to leave for Japan on July 8, 2021. Men's doubles athlete Hendra Setiawan said that the players are currently focusing on their training program.
"We plan to depart on July 8, so now we focus on training," Hendra, who is paired with Mohammad Ahsan, said in Jakarta, Thursday, June 10.
Hendra and Ahsan rank second in the BWF's World Rankings in the Men's Doubles Category.
Hendra said that the athletes are not just preparing in terms of technique, but also on maintaining their health, since the Olympics will take place amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
"There is no quarantine, players will take a swab test, wait for the results for around one day, and then practice at Kumamoto," he said. The badminton training facility for Olympians to train is located in Kumamoto Prefecture.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8. Badminton matches will be held at the Mushashino Forest Sports Plaza in Tokyo from July 24 to August 2. Eleven Indonesian badminton players will be competing in five numbers.
