Jakarta Covid-19 Positivity Rate Rises to 10.8%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial government recorded 1,371 more cases of Covid-19 today, June 9. The Health Agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control Unit, Dwi Oktavia, said the new infections were detected from the PCR swab tests on 15,954 specimens.
“From the number, 11,167 people are tested with PCR today to diagnose new cases. The result shows that 1,371 are positive and the rest 9,796 are negative,” said Dwi in a written statement on Wednesday, June 9.
Meanwhile, 6,132 people were tested for antigen swabs. The results found that 237 people were positive and 5,895 negative.
With the new daily infections, Jakarta has now detected 438,458 cases since the first case was found in early March 2020. In detail, 11,850 people are still being treated or undergoing isolation, 7,499 people died, and 419,109 patients have recovered.
The disease mortality rate in the capital was 1.7 percent, while the recovery rate reached 95.6 percent. The positivity rate in the last week, meanwhile, hit 10.8 percent. “The total positivity rate is 10.8 percent,” Dwi added.
The rate exceeded the safe rate recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) at below 5 percent.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Riza Patria earlier disclosed that the surge in Covid-19 cases occurred after the Eid holiday. Today, June 9, Riza said the occupancy rate of isolation beds also exceeded 50 percent.
