TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state-owned power company PLN has implemented digital breakthrough for 53 power plant units. This is an effort to improve the company's reliability, efficiency and competitiveness in the field of commercial energy supply.

PLN president director Zulkifli Zaini said that the digitization of power plants had reached a 'business as usual' status, which means the transition has become the company's new way of running its energy business now and in the future.

"The acceleration of this power plant digitalization began last year," Zulkifli said in Jakarta, Sunday, June 6.

The implementation of digital system in the 53 power plant units is carried out by of PLN's subsidiaries. Twenty-nine power plants by PT Indonesia Power and 24 by PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali.

The total power capacity generated by the digitally-run plants is 30 GigaWatts, or equivalent to 75 percent of PLN's total generating capacity.

"This digital power plant breakthrough is one of the things that we are pushing, considering that power generation units are the company's main infrastructure in providing electricity services for customers," added Zulkifli.
