TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rizieq Shihab, defendant of a falsified swab test case at the UMMI Bogor Hospital, is charged with a six-year imprisonment sentence by prosecutor Syahnan Tanjung at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, June 3, 2021.
Rizieq, who is also the leader of now-defunct mass-organization FPI, was also charged for violating Article 14 (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on false information. Prosecutors also insist that Rizieq must cover the court costs.
A number of aspects incriminating Rizieq Shihab are his past violations under Criminal Code Article 70 and Article 160 on inciting the public upon committing criminal violations that cause health emergencies.
Rizieq's acts are also deemed unsupportive towards the government's program on fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused disturbance towards public order.
Rizieq's son-in-law Hanif Alatas was also charged with a two-year sentence for falsifying swab test results at the same hospital in Bogor.
