TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi mandated city government employees to take public or online transportation when traveling every Tuesday, from June 8 to July 6, 2021.
Apart from the public officials, Hendi in a press release on Sunday also appealed to the people to use mass transport.
He explained that the Public Transportation Day policy which would last about a month was one of the city’s agendas to welcome the World Environment Day that falls on June 5, 2021.
“We urge the people to use public or online transportation every Tuesday during that time. As for city officials, it is mandatory,” Hendi underlined.
According to him, the policy was enforced with the spirit to reduce the use of private vehicles. The Mayor hoped that public and online transportation businesses would support the implementation of this policy.
Hendi would also welcome innovations and promotions offered by the public transportation business players to succeed in this policy. Additionally, he asked the business players to strengthen the implementation of the predetermined health protocols against Covid-19 in their services.
