Private Gotong Royong Vaccination; 5 Aspects You Need to Know

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Health Ministry’s Regulation No.10/2021 which oversees the ‘gotong royong vaccination’ program states that the program is meant to provide vaccine shots for employees, families, and other individuals where its costs are paid by legal business entities. Basically free vaccines for employees of companies who register in the program.

The Health Ministry’s Covid-19 task force spokesperson, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, in a press release at the ministry’s website asserts there are at least five aspects that the public needs to know about the program.

Firstly is the aforementioned aspect which makes employees receive free vaccines. The second aspect is related to the Covid-19 vaccine brand that will be used, which she asserts are vaccines that have obtained the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) permit or emergency use authorization. This means at this stage, no certain Covid-19 vaccine brand is confirmed to supply the program.

The third aspect states that the Health Ministry is not responsible for the procurement of the gotong royong vaccines but rather overseen by the SOEs Ministry and state-pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma. Its distribution will be overseen by Bio Farma and private healthcare services facilities in the agreement with the companies that have purchased the vaccine.

The final aspect involves the tariff for the vaccination, which will be set by the government as its upper and lower ceiling has been determined. As of May 18, the government has set a cost of Rp879,140 per individual for two Covid-19 vaccine shots.
