TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta mass rapid transit operator PT MRT Jakarta decided to cut short its train operating hours during the extension period of the Enforcement of the Micro-scale Community Activity Restriction or Micro PPKM.
Acting Corporate Secretary Head Ahmad Pratomo said the operating hours of the Ratangga train on weekdays, Monday-Friday, were shortened to 05:00-22:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Previously, the urban train served passengers from 05:00-23:00 WIB on weekdays.
“PT MRT changes the operating hours, which will take effect starting Friday, May 21,” said Ahmad in a written statement today.
Meanwhile, the train service during weekends and holidays would remain the same at 06:00-21:00 WIB. The distance between vehicles or the train headways will still be normal at every five minutes during peak hours (07:00-09:00 WIB and 17:00-19:00 WIB).
“The train headway on weekends or holidays is 10 minutes,” Ahmad added.
The limited number of passengers on each train in an effort to prevent COVID-19 transmission remains in effect. According to him, one train or car can only be filled with 70 passengers.
PT MRT Jakarta, Ahmad went on, urged the public to be disciplined in complying with the COVID-19 prevention health protocols on the train and station areas.
As reported previously, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan extended the enactment of Micro PPKM until May 31, 2021, in an attempt to prevent a surge in COVID-19 cases after Eid al-Fitr holidays.
