Covid-19 Vaccination for People with Disability to Start Next Month

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's third stage of the Covid-19 vaccination program which mainly targets vulnerable people including people with disabilities will kick off June 2021.
The Health Ministry spokesperson for immunization, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine for the third stage is prioritized for 250,000 people with disabilities and psychosocial disabilities. “Perhaps in June 2021, there will be 250,000 vaccines,” said Nadia to Tempo on Thursday, May 20.
As for the vaccination rollout, health officers will directly visit the houses of the recipients. “We'll cooperate with health service facilities to administer this program,” she added.
The Indonesian government targets to administer Covid-19 vaccines to 186 million residents by procuring 320 million doses of vaccines in order to achieve herd immunity. The first stage of the mass immunization program was prioritized for health workers, while the second stage, which is still ongoing, targets the elderly and public service workers.
