TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya instantly closed the road access to the Griya Melati housing complex in Bubulak District to the public on Tuesday, May 18, after 25 residents tested positive for Covid-19.
“The access to the housing complex is closed temporarily. The entry and exit access will be reviewed selectively,” said Bima who is also the head of Bogor Covid-19 Task Force.
He explained that strict supervision was necessary to prevent further widespread transmission. He previously received a report regarding a potential virus spread in the housing complex which was confirmed by the task force in the community unit (RW) and district level.
According to Bima, the transmission began from a family who had just arrived from out of town. A family member reportedly joined I’tikaf (seclusion in a mosque) in the housing complex with dozens of other residents.
On the eve of Eid al-Fitr or locally known malam takbiran, the person suffered fever and underwent an independent rapid test on Thursday, May 13, with a positive result. The person then conducted a PCR test on Friday, May 14. The result also came back positive on Saturday.
After that, the Covid-19 Task Force carried out close contact tracing. A total of 47 people underwent antigen tests and ten of them were positive. There were also three people from a family who took independent antigen tests and the results were also positive.
As of Tuesday, May 18, the West Bogor District Covid-19 Task Force recorded 25 residents of Griya Melati housing complex positive for the coronavirus disease.
