Homecoming Blockade in Tangerang, Hundreds of Vehicles Turned Back

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - From May 6 to May 10, 2021, as many as 432 vehicles have been netted during the homecoming blockade operation in Tangerang. Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said that hundreds of vehicles were instructed to turn around for attempting to travel to other regions.
"Based on data recording, there are 432 vehicles attempting to facilitate homecoming netted by the officers," the Tangerang Mayor said in a statement on Wendesday, May 12, 2021.
There are two blockade outposts in Tangerang, namely Jalan MH Thamrin and Jalan Gatoto Subroto. Meanwhile, on the Batuceper and Kalideres border, an outpost has been setuo by the Jakarta Provincial government.
Pursuant to the Covid-19 task force regulation, the restriction of homecoming from 6 May to 17 May, 2021, applies in aglomerated regions. The task force said that even local trips will be banned. Non-homecoming travel are still permitted as long as it is for work purposes.
Chief of the Tangerang Resort Police Sr. Police Comr. Deoniju De Fatima said that 178 police personnel were mobilized for the blockade operation.
Head of Public Transportation of the Tangerang Transportation Agency Bambang Dewanto, said that most of the vehicles netted were motorcycles.
