Ganjar Pranowo Reminds Tourism Destination Operators to Prevent Crowds

  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo reminded regency and city government, and operators of tourism destinations open during Eid Al Fitr holiday to be able to control their regions and premises to prevent the gathering of large masses. Because large masses will have the potential to spread Covid-19.

    "If there is a crowded condition and it causes gathering of masses, the operator must be brave enough to impose strict control. If it can't be controlled, just close it down," Ganjar said on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

    In the middle of the ongoing homecoming ban, tourism destination on may regions are allowed to open in compliance to each region's policies. Howeve, these tourist destinations must employ strict health protocols and limit the number of visitors.

    Ganjar said that he continues to find people neglecting the importance of health protocol during his visit to a number of tourism destination. He also suggested tourism destination operators to mobilize a patrol team to monitor visitors and continue to remind about health protocols.

    "So that is the importance of patrolling officers, but because because this is tourism, they need to remind it in a nice way," Ganjar said.

    Ganjar mentioned that there are a number of reginos that stated that they will close down all tourism destinations, among others are Magelang, Kebumen, Wonogiri and Semarang Regency. The Kudus regency also opens a number of tourism destinations by limiting the number of visitors to 30% of the total capacity.

    "Hopefully, all regions can prepare so there will be no threatening crowds," Ganjar said.
