TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned energy firm Pertamina on Tuesday hosted a ceremony celebrating the amendments to cooperation in the coal dimethyl ether (DME) project which is also a processing service agreement for the coal gasification, a government program to improve the national energy resistance.
State-owned Minister Erick Thohir on Tuesday responded positively upon the cooperation. He argued that the coal gasification is one of the attempts to improve the national economy and gradually eliminate the dependency on imported projects.
“The coal gasification has an immediate added value for the national macro economy and saves on the trade balance, reduces dependency on LPG imports, and improves foreign exchange reserves,” Erick Thohir wrote in Today’s statement.
He hoped that this cooperation will establish a momentum of the national economic revival and ensure the availability of independent energy needs. "We also expect the macro and micro sectors to continue growing, which are the pillars of the national economy,” Erick Thohir remarked.
