TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Reports have emerged suggesting that anti-graft institution Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had arrested an East Java state official in its recent sting operation or OTT. The suspect is believed to be Nganjuk Regent Novi Rahman Hidayat.
“That is confirmed that the KPK conducted a sting operation in the area of Nganjuk,” said KPK deputy chairperson Nurul Ghufron on Monday, May 10. “We are investigating further on the individuals involved and how much money was confiscated.”
If true, this marks the second occurrence where the KPK arrested the regent of Nganjuk with the first occurrence happening in October 2017 where former regent Taufiqqurahman was arrested for a case involving illegal trades of positions within the local government institutions.
The case in 2017 saw Taufiqqurahman trading in influence to control individuals who hold positions in local academic institutions, state agency leaders, and more. The district corruption court sentenced the former regent to 7-years imprisonment.
