171,000 Vehicles Leave Jakarta on D-2 of Mudik Ban

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta- State toll road operator Jasa Marga recorded 171,358 vehicles had left Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi to the East, West, and South directions on Thursday and Friday, May 6-7, or two days before the ban on homecoming or mudik travel takes effect.
Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga, Dwimawan Heru, said the number was dropped 41.4 percent from the normal traffic volume of 292,522 vehicles.
“Some 34.5 percent of vehicles headed to the East, 38.4 percent to the West, and 27.1 percent to the South," he said in a written release on Saturday, May 8.
As previously reported, the government has issued the ban to travel for Eid al-Fitr homecoming on the period of May 6-17. Certain groups are excluded from the ban, namely logistic service vehicles, business travel, those who must visit sick family members, family condolence visit, pregnant lady with one companion with delivery purpose.
However, they must complete several requirements before they depart, such as Covid-free sertificate and travel license (SIKM).
