TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno disclosed his plans to open tourist destinations in Gili Trawangan, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), after the pilot project of the travel corridor in Bali is launched.
“We will try to develop a travel pattern. We will work with tourism players in Bali to sell travel packages that can be alternatives for tourists. For example, when Bali is reopened in June-July as the Covid-19 situation is better, we can also reopen Gili Trawangan under strict health protocols,” said Sandiaga in a written statement quoted on Friday, May 7, 2021.
According to him, Gili Trawangan is a Covid-19-free region because since the onset of the pandemic, the island has been claimed to have zero cases. The region is classified as a green zone and said to be worthy of being likened to Sanur in Bali.
The minister said the travel pattern will be integrated with green zones in Dewata Island so that after Bali is reopened for international tourists, Gili Trawangan can be an alternative destination.
Sandiaga Uno will also bridge tourism and creative economy players in Gili Trawangan with those in Bali. Not only preparing the reopening for foreign tourists but the efforts were also taken to attract domestic tourists.
