TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Lion Air spoke up about its unscheduled flight services or international chartered flights from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, Hubei Province of China.
“We assert and confirm that the flight is not a scheduled international flight (regular flight),” said the Corporate Communications Strategic, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, in a written statement on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
The chartered flight, he explained, had met the flight requirements and obtained a flight permit on April 18-19, 2021, from the Civil Aviation Directorate General of the Transportation Ministry.
“Lion Air continues to implement all applicable flight provisions during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Danang. He added that this was in accordance with the regulations and airline commitments to prioritize safety, security, and convenience and operate under strict health protocol in an effort to contain the virus that was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan.
Danang added that his side increased the routine activity of aircraft cleaning and sterilization by adopting the Aircraft Exterior and Interior Cleaning (AEIC) in the Batam Aero Technic (BAT) aircraft maintenance center and at various airports base stations.
Lion Air fleets, Danang went on, are also equipped with a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter to keep the air in the cabin clean as it could filter more than 99.9 percent of viruses, germs, insects, and bacteria. Thus, the cabin will have fresh air every two to three minutes.
