Gerindra Will Pursue Prabowo Subianto as 2024 Presidential Candidate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party secretary Ahmad Muzani said on Thursday, May 6, 2021, that the party members are hoping that the party's chairperson and current Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is willing to run for the presidency in the 2024 presidential election.
"Gerindra is hoping and pleading for Pak Prabowo to run for the 2024 presidential election. We are all hoping for the same thing and it has remained unchanged," said Muzani in the Parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Muzani insisted that the support from party members is based on the recent survey conducted by the Institute of Research, Education, and Information of Social and Economic Affairs (LP3ES), which found Prabowo had commendable electability.
However, he asserted that there have been no political decisions made by Gerindra as Prabowo has asked to be given the chance to concentrate on his current position that oversees Indonesia's defense issues. He believes Prabowo will announce a decision at the right moment in the future and said the Gerindra party will surely endorse the defense minister as a presidential candidate as soon as Prabowo approves the decision.
The LP3ES survey revealed the five most popular political party leaders that consists of Prabowo Subianto, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Airlangga Hartarto.
