BMKG Banjarnegara Develops Tsunami Alert Mobile App

30 April 2021 16:16 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Banjarnegara - The Geophysical Station of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Banjarnegara office developed a tsunami alert application for Android mobile phones to make it easier for the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) to issue an early warning to the public or users to evacuate.

“So it can minimize the risks of disasters,” said the Geophysics Station Head Setyoajie Prayoedhie in Banjarnegara, Thursday, April 29, 2021.

The public can download the mobile app, dubbed SIRITA, on their own smartphones. “The SIRITA app only works well on devices that support the Google cloud service,” Setyoajie added.

He explained that BMKG Banjarnegara had tested the tsunami siren app on April 26, 2021. “The results meet the expectations. The siren wails on phones that already have this app,” he said.

Setyoajie hoped the mobile app could positively contribute to tsunami risk mitigation.
