Bio Farma Prepares 18 Million Covid-19 Vaccine Doses for May

30 April 2021 13:09 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma announced on Thursday that it has prepared up to 18 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for May 2021, from the 59.5 million Sinovac bulk doses the government imported from China.

The government’s spokesperson for the Bio Farma vaccination, Bambang Heriyanto, said the 16-18 million doses came from production in April this year.

“We surely hope it passes inspection and obtains the lot release from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in May,” Bambang wrote in a written statement on April 29.

From the initial goal of producing 47 million doses, Bio Farma has already produced 41 million of them with 25 million doses obtaining approval from the BPOM. It has distributed 22.5 million doses through the Health Ministry to Indonesian provinces.

The vaccines that were distributed include 3 million CoronaVac shots and 1.1 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.
