TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta Health Agency Widyastuti in a written statement on Wednesday revealed that Covid-19 cases coming from office clusters logged a significant surge but are currently fluctuating and tend to show a drop.
“During the period of April 19-25, 2021, 68 cases were logged from 27 offices but an increase could potentially return,” said Widyastuti on April 28.
She explains that her agency is currently investigating the cause and what factor sparked this office cluster growth - a data she said was provided by epidemiologists. Widyastuti elaborates that a number of these coronavirus cases are linked to family clusters.
The Jakarta Health Agency also found that the case surges always happen 14 days after an extensive period of holidays and the final finding surprisingly reveals that the confirmed positive Covid-19 cases from office clusters have received vaccine shots.
Out of the already-vaccinated cases 21 percent of them were asymptomatic, 73 percent suffering light symptoms, and 6 percent had to receive hospital treatment but eventually recovered.
She attributes the successful recovery rate to the nationwide Covid-19 vaccinations which prevents severe and deadly cases, however, she strongly reminds people that transmissions can happen even in a community that has received two doses of vaccines.
