Jakarta: Surge in Office Clusters May Due to Covid-19 Vaccine Euphoria

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office Head Andri Yansyah confirmed a recent surge in Covid-19 cases in office clusters. One of the causes could be the euphoria of Covid-19 vaccines among employees. “It could be because of that,” said Andri to reporters on Monday, April 26.

According to him, people tended to be overconfident in their immunity after receiving the vaccine shots. Meanwhile, in fact, vaccines are one of the efforts to break the transmission chain, and that the vital effort is still the implementation of the 3M health protocols.

“We have not conducted an in-depth survey regarding this matter. But it is possibly because of the vaccine that people think they are immune [to coronavirus],” Andri added.

Additionally, Andri opined that the public is getting bored of the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, people no longer wash their hands before entering an office. However, he said that based on the agency’s monitoring, the surge in cases was not directly in line with the hike in violations of the health protocols in workplaces.

Andri also complained about the lack of personnel from his agency to monitor the public compliance with the health protocols in offices. “We only have 59 supervisors,” he said.
