TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The immigration office of Soekarno-Hatta Airport denied entry of 32 Indian nationals. They came to Indonesia with various purposes.
"Some have jobs and businesses here," said airport immigration chief Romi Yudianto on Saturday night, April 24.
Some of them, he went on, even aimed to go on vacations and meet their family in Indonesia. However, their arrivals on Friday were denied since they did not meet the requirements for foreigners entering Indonesia during the pandemic.
The 32 people would eventually be repatriated back to India as part of the law enforcement of the immigration office, Romi said.
The deportation process would be held on early hours of Sunday at 00:40. They will fly on the Emirate Airlines flight EK 395 destined to Dubai.
The Indonesian airport tightens regulations regarding flights from India and people arriving from the country since Friday due to the rising Covid-19 cases there in the past two months. India is also fighting against the mutation of the B1617 varian of SARS-CoV-2 virus.
